Administration
Administration - Rules of the Game
Here are some key rules of the game for how we'll conduct this session.
Assignments Turn-In
- Assignments are all turned in to VistaBB, usually by including a link to a post on your team's blog.
- Only the competitions don't require a VBB submission
- Late Assignments will receive a 20% automatic deduction and can only be turned in up to one week after the due date
- No Assignments will be accepted after the last Friday of the term
Grading
- The term grade will be calculated as shown on this page.
- Note that we must reserve the right to change grading criteria and overall points for the term.
- We will always notify everyone via a blog post if there is a change.
- You may appeal any grade you receive on an assignment for up to one week after the grade is returned, but not after the end of classes.
- Appeals should be sent by email to the course instructor - Prof. Mitchell - He'll forward them to the Teaching Fellows.
- Any appeal should be explicit about what you think is the error. A general "it's not fair" isn't sufficient.
Attendance
- Attendance in the lab each week is mandatory
- We will allow one missed lab per student with no attendance penalty
- This allowance will only be entered at the end of the term, so don't be upset if you appear to have a deduction during the term.
Teamwork
- Several of the assignments require teamwork. We will assume that all team members are contributing equally unless you bring teamwork problems to our attention before you receive a grade for the assignment.
- We urge you to talk to the Teaching Fellows or Prof. Mitchell during lab, asking for help with teamwork problems
- You may also email
